1. Who we are
Tax Doctorz Pty Ltd (“Tax Doctorz”, “we”, “us”) is a chartered accounting, tax and business advisory practice based in Brisbane, QLD, and a registered tax agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (registration 26343636). We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and by the confidentiality obligations of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and the Code of Professional Conduct.
2. What we collect
Through this website we collect only what you give us in the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the type of enquiry, the service you are interested in, your preferred contact method and your message. Please do not include tax file numbers, bank details or passwords in the form; we collect those securely once you become a client.
When you engage us we collect the personal and financial information needed to provide tax, accounting and advisory services, including identity details, tax file numbers, income and expense records, and information about your entities, property and superannuation. We collect it from you, and with your authority from the Australian Taxation Office, Inland Revenue (New Zealand), your financial institutions, your software providers (for example Xero) and other advisers.

3. Why we collect it and how we use it
- to respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation;
- to provide the services you engage us for, including preparing and lodging returns and statements with the ATO and Inland Revenue;
- to meet our legal and professional obligations, including record-keeping, identity verification and the Tax Practitioners Board’s requirements;
- to communicate with you about your affairs, deadlines and changes in the law that affect you;
- to manage our practice, including billing and quality review.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use enquiry details for marketing without your consent.
4. Who we share it with
We disclose personal information only as needed to provide our services and as the law requires: to the ATO, Inland Revenue and other government bodies; to your financial institutions and other advisers with your authority; to software and cloud providers we use to deliver our services [list: e.g. Xero, Microsoft 365, the practice’s tax lodgement software]; and to our professional advisers and insurers. Some providers store data outside Australia [confirm locations, e.g. Australia, New Zealand, the United States]. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled in accordance with the APPs.
5. How we keep it secure
We store information in access-controlled systems with multi-factor authentication, encrypt data in transit, and limit access to the people who need it. Website enquiries are sent to us over an encrypted connection and are not stored on the web server. We retain client records for the periods required by tax law and professional standards (generally at least five years after the relevant lodgement) and then destroy or de-identify them.
6. Your rights
You may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. Contact us through the contact form on this website. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
7. Notifiable data breaches
If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date it was last updated.
